A qualified medical expense helps diagnose, treat, mitigate, or prevent a health condition. Purchases that address a real health need can qualify — general wellness alone does not.
It Depends on the Person
The same product can qualify for one person and not another. Bought purely to feel healthier, it isn't eligible — used to manage a diagnosed condition, it may be. Context is everything.
A Letter of Medical Necessity
When a product qualifies, a licensed provider issues a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) — the document that makes it eligible for HSA/FSA payment or reimbursement. VeloMED generates it as part of checkout.

Who Qualifies
Qualification depends on your health, not just your purchase. Here are a few illustrative examples.
A documented skin condition
May support eligibility for cosmetic and skincare products such as acne treatments, medical-grade SPF, or eczema and rosacea care.
A nutritional deficiency or GI condition
May support eligibility for specific supplements and nutraceuticals tied to that health need.
Cardiovascular or metabolic conditions
May support eligibility for fitness equipment, wearables, or recovery tools used to manage the condition.
A diagnosed sleep disorder
May support eligibility for a mattress, adjustable base, or sleep-tracking device recommended to manage the condition.
General health goals alone — wanting to feel better, look better, or sleep more — don't meet the IRS threshold on their own. There needs to be a specific medical reason beyond general wellness.
